Open Forum

St. Vincent Pallotti College, Raipur, through its Library Committee,successfully organized an Open Forum (Open Debate) on 9th February2026 at 12:00 Noon in the College Library for the academicsession 2025–26. The topic of the discussion was “Is Happiness trulyabout money and success?”, which encouraged students to reflect deeply onthe meaning of happiness beyond material achievements. The session aimed todevelop critical thinking, communication skills, and a balanced perspectiveamong students.

The programme was convened by Dr. Sunita Pawar (Librarian)and was graced by the presence of esteemed faculty members Dr. Mini Pillai,Dr. Neetu Gupta, Ms. Shivangi Pandey, and Ms. Roshani Tiwari. Theirvaluable insights and guidance enriched the discussion and motivated studentsto actively participate. Students expressed diverse viewpoints, making thesession highly interactive and thought-provoking. Based on performance andcontent delivery, the winners were declared as Afrin Bano (BCA IV Semester) – FirstPosition, Ashita Gabel (BBA II Semester) – SecondPosition, and Prajnya Sahu (B.Com II Semester) and RoshiniFatima (B.Com IV Semester) –shared Third Position. The activitycreated an engaging academic environment, fostering intellectual dialogue andpersonality development. Overall, the Open Forum proved to be a successful andmeaningful initiative, promoting holistic learning and awareness amongstudents.


Book Exhibition


The LibraryCommittee of St. Vincent Pallotti College organized a book exhibition on 16/10/2025 “Kalam’sKaleidoscope” commemorating the birth anniversary of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, a renowned Indian scientist, statesman, andthe 11th President of India. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Kuldeep Dubey,Principal of the College, the Vice Principal Dr. G Padma Gouri and the facultymembers of the institution. The Principal in his inaugural address spoke on theessence of this event.

 The library showcased a premium collection ofbooks, aligning with Dr. Kalam’s vision of nurturing knowledgeable citizens.The exhibition featured books that inspire to dream, to question, and todiscover from science and literature to innovation and leadership. Manystudents and staff members attended demonstrating enthusiasm for reading bookson the renowned scientist known as Missile Man.  The exhibition aimed topromote reading culture, foster academic excellence, and honor Dr. Kalam’scontributions to science, technology, and education.


Library Awareness Program

The Library Awareness Program is organized annuallyat the start of each academic year by the Library Committee of the institution.The primary aim of this program is to familiarize new students with the libraryrecourses, services and facilities. To achieve this objective the LibraryCommittee conducted the Library Awareness Program providing essentialinformation about DELNET the E-Library platform. The event took place in BCA-Iyear classroom, and thought students how to access DELNET and its resources.

How to browse e-Journals/E-Books etc through DELNET:

Steps 1: Search DELNET on Google.

Steps 2: Go to Home page of DELNET.

Steps 3: Select New Discovery Portal Login.

Steps 4: Enter User name and Password.

Steps 5: Now search desired books and journals.

Dr. Sunita Pawar discussed elaborately thecomponents of DELNET Portal. The session was attended by large number ofstudents and learned how to search the books, journals, research work, project,rarer books form the DELNET Portal. Students find the DELNET useful for theircourses.


Orientation Programme

The college organized a Library Orientation Programfor the first-year students on 23-08-2025 at the college library. The mainobjective of the program was to familiarize new students with the libraryresources, services, and rules, thereby encouraging them to develop goodreading and research habits.

The session was conducted by Dr. Sunita Pawar, whoguided the students through various sections of the library, including thereference section, reading room, and digital resources corner. Students werebriefed about the procedures for issuing and returning books, the availabilityof e-resources, journals, and magazines, as well as the rules for maintainingdiscipline within the library premises.

An interactive session was also held, wherestudents’ queries were addressed. Faculty and library staff was available toaddress queries. The orientation helped students understand how to effectivelyuse the library for their academic growth.

Overall, the program proved to be very informativeand beneficial, giving students a clear idea of the role of the library intheir academic journey.
