On July 27th, 2024,St. Vincent Pallotti College, Raipur, Chhattisgarh, celebrated World Conservation Day with the theme "Ek Pedh Maa Ke Naam" (One Tree inthe Name of Mother) at the AVA Room. This event was organized in collaboration with the 'Green Army' Raipur, emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation and honouring motherhood through tree plantation. The celebration saw the exhilarating participation of the respected Director, Principal, VicePrincipal, all Heads of Departments (HODs), faculty members, and students of different streams of college, along with members of ‘Green Army’.
The event commenced with an inaugural speech by the college's Principal Dr Kuldeep Dubey, who highlighted the significance of World Conservation Day and the chosen theme. The Principal emphasized the crucial role of trees in maintaining ecological balance and the symbolic representation of trees as nurturers, akin to mothers. The Principal's speech was followed by an address from the Chief Guest, CA Amitabh Dubey and the founder of the Green Army. Mr. Dubey shared his insights on environmental conservation and the impactful initiatives undertaken by the Green Army in Raipur. His motivational words inspired the audience to actively participate in conserving nature.
An 'Eco Pot Creation Competition 'was organized as part of the celebration, fostering creativity and environmental awareness among the students. Participants displayed their innovative eco-friendly pots made from recycled materials, showcasing their commitment to sustainability. The competition received enthusiastic participation, with students demonstrating remarkable creativity and environmental consciousness.
The event's climax was the announcement of the competition winners. The Principal Dr Kuldeep Dubey and Mr. Amitabh Dubey congratulated the winners and distributed prizes, encouraging them to continue their efforts in promoting environmental sustainability. The winning entries were appreciated for their ingenuity and contribution to the theme of the event. The winners were Mubsheera Khan from BBA III in 1stplace, Abhishek Toppo from BPE II in 2nd place, and Vaishali Palti from B.Ed III in 3rd place.
Following the prize distribution, a plantation drive was conducted within the college premises. Faculty members, students, and Green Army members participated in planting saplings, symbolizing their dedication to conserving the environment. The plantation drive not only enhanced the greenery of the campus but also instilled a sense of responsibility towards nature among the participants.
